Two men accused in a deadly home invasion at an Orlando apartment complex were arrested Thursday.

Joshua Heard, 21, and Diego Alvarez, 17, face first-degree murder and robbery charges.

Channel 9 was there just after midnight when officers hauled Heard off to jail in handcuffs.

Orlando police said he was the gunman during the home invasion at the Middlebrook Apartments, off Conroy Road in February.

Jonathan Cook, 17, and Khoy Williams, 24, were killed in the shooting.

Police said they were both shot in the head.

Williams' father spoke exclusively with Channel 9 a few days after the murders.

"Everybody is distraught … it left a hole within our heart, our soul. It's hard, it's really hard," said Williams' father, Royston Williams.

Police said Alvarez told them he and Heard planned to rob a liquor store the night of the shooting, but Heard saw the victims going into an apartment and decided to rob them.

Once inside, police said one of the victims reached for the gun and that's when Heard started firing.

For Cook's mother Angela Mulleturo and her daughter Ashley the arrests are bittersweet. Thursday would have been Cook's 18th birthday.

Mulleturo said her son was a funny guy, who would light up the room. He spent the evening DJing at a local bowling alley the night before the shooting.

"They stopped to drop off equipment before taking him home.  Only he didn't make it home," said Mulleturo.

Heard was being held on bond at the Orange County Jail Thursday.

His first appearance in court was set for Thursday afternoon.

Alvarez was being held in the juvenile justice system.

His mother spoke to WFTV's Jeff Deal on Thursday.

"This is not the son I raised. This is not.  For sure, this is not," she said.

For Cook's family the hardest part is knowing they'll never see him again.

"I'm just glad. Hopefully justice will be served for him and Khoy," said Mulleturo.
