Prosecutors gain big win in case against Osceola accused child molester

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —

Prosecutors in Osceola County got a big win in court Wednesday in the case against an accused child molester.

Loomes Wheeler, the owner of Horse World in Kissimmee, is accused of molesting two children in April of last year, then cutting off his GPS monitor and trying to hide out in the Bahamas.

On Wednesday, a judge decided to allow some damaging evidence to be heard in the 71-year-old’s trial.

During the hearing, Wheeler had to face his accusers in the two upcoming child abuse cases.

“I remember he asked if I liked what he was doing,” said one of the victims, now an adult, on the stand.

Prosecutors asked the judge to allow the victim to testify in another younger victim’s trial, to show the similarities in the way they said Wheeler abused the children.

The victims said they were abused by Wheeler during a trip to Horse World.

The millionaire was captured in the Bahamas five years after his arrest during an unrelated drug investigation.

Wheeler glared at the alleged victims’ family members as he heard testimony Wednesday.

“He told me not to say anything because I would be in trouble, and he would be in trouble, and I wouldn’t have any horses anymore,” the younger victim said in her testimony.

The judge granted the motion to allow some testimony from the alleged victim in the younger child’s case.

He also agreed to allow the younger child’s mother and a member of the Child Protection Team to testify about what the girl told them, which in adult cases normally wouldn’t be allowed because it would be considered hearsay.
