Investigators are working to find out what caused a high pressure gas line to rupture in Sanford early Wednesday morning.

At around 4:00am, a visible cloud of gas could be spotted coming from the ground over State Road 46 in Sanford.

The leak resulted in road closures for about three hours while road crews capped the line.

No homes had to be evacuated due to the leak.  State Road 46 was reopened after crews closed the line.
