SANFORD, Fla. —
Sanford police arrested a gunman Tuesday night at an apartment complex known for its crime, officials said.
Police said they are cracking down on violent crime and are trying to clean up the streets of Sanford.
Officers said Emetrius Austin fired six shots at the Seminole Gardens apartment complex.
Investigators said they were able to catch Austin quickly, partially because of their recently created neighborhood response unit.
Police said they have responded to the complex more than 40 different times during a six-month period for crimes such as robberies, assaults and shootings.
