POLK COUNTY, Fla. —
A man whose wife allegedly tried to kill him is speaking out Friday morning.
Beth Richards is accused of feeding her husband, Greg, a tuna fish sandwich laced with the anti-depressant Trazodone.
Greg said he stopped eating the sandwich after he noticed it had an aspirin aftertaste, last Thursday.
He returned to work where he became dizzy and collapsed while on a ladder.
Greg said he does not understand why his wife tried to kill him.
"Just to let you know, I still do love her. If she needs mental care or whatever, I hope she gets it. But she's never welcomed back here again," said Greg Richards.
The Polk County Sheriff said Beth Richards has confessed, but has not said why she wanted her husband dead.
Greg has a life insurance policy worth $250,000 that provides even more money if he is hurt on the job.
