OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
A suspected repeat drunken driver bonded out of jail Wednesday afternoon in Osceola County.
Robert Beyer, 30, Bond was granted bond on Monday. He's accused in three different DUI crashes: one in May and one in August of last year, and one in January of this year.
The first crash in May involved a mother and two children. The mother, Shannon Solchenberger, called WFTV's Jeff Deal when she heard Beyer could be getting out.
She believes once he walks out of jail, it's only a matter of time before he gets behind the wheel under the influence again.
It was a nightmare crash that she's still dealing with. Both her children were sent to the hospital.
"(He) came across a couple of lanes of traffic and struck me head on," she said.
A few months later Beyer was arrested on DUI charges again. Then in January of this year, investigators said Beyer veered off the road and struck a pedestrian.
"It's disgusting. After he nearly killed us, he goes out and gets two more, another one a couple of months later. Three within nine months. He just doesn't stop," said Solchenberger.
Beyer made plea deals in the second two arrests. He was sentenced to one year of probation for each and lost his license.
But the DUI case for the crash involving Solchenberger is still awaiting trial. She was stunned to find out on Monday that Judge Scott Polodna granted a $12,000 bond.
In his order, Polodna wrote that the family and community assured the court they would help Beyer meet all of his pretrial release conditions, which include no alcohol or drugs, random testing, and GPS monitoring.
But Solchenberger worries it won't be enough to protect the community.
"Until they let him take responsibility for himself he's going to get out there and he's going to do it again," she said.
