BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. —
State troopers said a dump truck driver was killed in a fiery crash that shot flames into the air and shut down Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Wednesday.
The truck caught fire at mile marker 195 near Fiske Boulevard in Rockledge.
The flames shot up in the air and heavy smoke poured from the wreckage. Troopers have not said what caused the crash, but only one dump truck was involved.
The traffic back-up stretches as much as three miles or more in each direction, according to officials.
Florida Highway Patrol officials reopened one of the southbound lanes. Northbound lanes have been closed.
Because the crash was so bad, drivers are being told to avoid the area altogether.
Northbound motorists use exit 191 turn right on Wickham Road, left on US-1, then left on Barnes Boulevard.
Check WFTV's Traffic Section for updates and alternate routes.
WFTV is working to get more details.
