ORLANDO, Fla. —

Universal Orlando is announcing the addition of a daily character parade and nighttime light and pyrotechnics show.

The Orlando theme park said Wednesday both new features at the Universal Studios park will debut sometime this spring, but specific dates weren't announced.

The interactive parade will put Nickelodeon characters front and center on high-tech floats, each designed to be a separate show. The Morgan Freeman-narrated night show will celebrate 100 years of moviemaking at Universal.

It's the most significant expansion at Universal since the hugely popular Harry Potter attraction opened in 2010 at the other park on the property, Islands of Adventure.

Also Wednesday, Universal announced its retooled "Spider-Man" ride will open in March and a new ride based on the "Despicable Me" animated movie will open this summer.
