WFTV obtained a tape-recorded interview of a teen suspected of being part of a group who beat a Pine Hills man to death. The victim's brother heard the interview for the first time on Monday.

James Calderon was in the process of remodeling his murdered brother's room when WFTV's Kathi Belich stopped by to talk to him.

Calderon said he is trying to ease the pain of relatives planning to visit soon for the upcoming murder suspects' court hearings.

Calderon said he was angry and hurt to hear suspect Luner Axcius tell investigators last month he had nothing to do with the brutal beating of Esteban Calderon, 67, in January.

"I just want to eliminate them completely and then we wouldn't have a problem," said Calderon.

Axcius told investigators he was the only one who spoke up against the planned attack, but said he went along with a group the night Esteban Calderon was killed, but he said he still went along with them that night.

Because he said he couldn't hop the fence. "I ain't, I ain't helping them do the crime. I just helped them to get over the fence," said Axcius in a police interview.

He was referring to the group getting back over Esteban Calderon's fence with his television. Axcius admits, in the recording, that he heard Calderon being beaten.

"What did you hear again?" a detective is heard asking in the police interview.

"Hello, hello, hello," said Axcius.

"OK. And then what happened after that?" asked the detective.

"I heard 'uh, uh, uh', like he was getting hit," said Axcius.

"It's an eerie feeling to hear the voice of someone who has caused you harm. It's hard to react to that. It's creepy in many ways," said James Calderon.

James Calderon said he's never seen any of the teenagers face-to-face, but he will for the first time over the next two weeks when Axcius and Ronald Edouard plan to plead in the case.

Calderon said Victor Wriden, who investigators believe to be the one who beat Esteban Calderon in the head with a brick, goes to court in two months.

"He made a posting on Facebook saying that he was going to kill an old white man that night," said James Calderon.
