Marion County: Superintendent made a statement last week in regards to Lake County, and they are very much against having teachers and principals have guns in schools.
In fact, they believe it's the worst thing they could do.
They already have police at middle and high school every day, and they're working with law enforcement to have a higher security presence at elementary schools.
Osceola County: Osceola County already has school resource officers at middle and high schools. Elementary is shared right now, where an officer rotates throughout the week.
The district has talked with the sheriff's department, St. Cloud police and Kissimmee police to increase presence in the area, and they've done so.
Volusia County: Nothing in reference to Lake County has been discussed, but the superintendent has been in talks with local law enforcement to see if retired officers would donate their time.
Those officers, however, wouldn't be allowed to carry weapons.
Right now, they have sheriff deputies at high and middle schools, but none at elementary schools. They have, however, asked for extra security presence.
