Wildfires burn in Volusia, Brevard counties

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —

Firefighters were able to take control of a 50-acre wildfire that was burning in Volusia County on Friday.

The fire is burning near Edgewater Drive and Oak Hill Drive.

Crews said there were no homes in danger.

In Brevard County, despite the strong wind, firefighters said they have gotten the upper hand on the wildfire near Titusville.

The blaze has grown to more than 1,850 acres, but crews said they have it more than 75 percent contained.

The flames jumped the fire lines in a couple of places, but crews said they caught it in time.

Some nearby homeowners said they packed up their valuables just in case, but so far, no homes have been threatened.
