Man Arrested For Torturing Girlfriend On Valentine's Day

 

LEESBURG, Fla. —

A Lake County man is in jail, accused of torturing his girlfriend on Valentine's Day.

James Johnson is charged with kidnapping, battery and assault.

The arrest report shows the attack happened at a Leesburg hotel. The report says he punched her, choked her, tried to light her hair on fire and tortured her for several hours.

Police said it was a severe and a very sad situation.

Louise Coker was in the room next door.

"It's petrifying really. We didn't hear anything. I didn't hear anything," Coker said.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, is in the hospital with a fractured skull and broken bones.
