Man Killed in Winter Springs Shooting

A Winter Springs man was shot to death Thursday afternoon at a home on Arbuckle Court.

According to eyewitnesses, 62-year-old Owen Eugene Whitlock shot his daughter’s boyfriend in front of the house.

Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies found the victim, 30-year-old Jose Ramirez, in his truck at the nearby intersection of Biscayne Drive and Dodd Road.

Ramirez was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators say Ramirez was a convicted felon who had been arrested several times.

Deputies would not confirm that Whitlock was the shooter, but said he cooperated with them and has not been arrested. The state attorney’s office is reviewing the case.
