Minneola Firefighters' Personal Information Posted On Website For Days

The city of Minneola is being accused of violating federal, state and local laws. A union representative said several firefighters' personal information was posted on the city's web site for more than three days.

Eyewitness News found names, addresses, phone numbers and social security numbers online, Sunday. Mayor Dave Yeager said firefighters' union membership applications, which list personal information, were posted by accident on the public agenda for Tuesday's council meeting.

"Thousands and thousands of documents get scanned all the time and this is one that got by us," said Yeager.

The mayor said no one will be reprimanded since the mistake was a case of human error. The city also said it will give firefighters one free year of a credit monitoring service.

Some firefighters said they're satisfied with the city's quick response to fix the problem, but sources told Eyewitness News that other firefighters feel like the incident is retaliation.

In January, Eyewitness News learned firefighters filed complaints against chief David Dobrzykowski saying he made negative comments about them. Firefighters also believe the city didn't want them to unionize.

The city denied the allegations.
