No Foul Play Suspected After Day Care Baby Death

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

A home day care in Orange County where a baby was found not breathing will be closed on Tuesday as the Department of Children and Families investigators try to piece together what went wrong.

"Orange County Investigators believe no foul play was involved in the reported death of a one year old baby girl who passed away yesterday afternoon," the Orange County Sheriff's Office wrote in a release issued late Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the Hill Family Day Care and performed CPR on the infant, but the baby was later pronounced dead at Florida Hospital East.

DCF said a woman ran the daycare inside a home on Bolton Bend (see map). It’s registered to Patricia Jeanne Hill, but no one answered when reporters knocked on the door.

Neighbors said they are stunned.

"We just never would have expected something like this, so shocking to happen here,” said Tania Quinonez.

According to DCF officials, the Hill Family Day Care has had three infractions since 2009 for keeping incomplete records for fire drills, immunizations and student health.

The owner has not been cited. Homicide investigators are conducting a death investigation.
