ORLANDO, Fla. —
Fierce winter storms in the Northeast continued to cause problems for travelers at Orlando International Airport on Thursday.
Getting home from the Christmas holiday has been a difficult task, thanks to the storms.
"It is a gamble. I was very nervous. I got to airport an hour half -- yep -- when I came down here. I didn't know how the weather would be -- the lines would be," said traveler Anthony Frazier.
New York and Maine could get up to 18 inches of snow on Thursday.
People trying to find their way home are doing what they can to deal with the blizzard.
Airports across the country have canceled more than 1,600 flights.
At Orlando International Airport, 39 flights were delayed at least an hour or more and four had to be canceled because of bad weather Thursday.
"We was praying it wasn't going to hit where we stay in Chicago. But the Doppler radar was getting crazy so I know it was going to get bad -- really bad," said traveler Brian Hopkins.
At least 400 flights across the U.S. were canceled Thursday.
Airports in New York City and Philadelphia were the hit hardest.
Airport officials said travelers should call or check online for flight delays.
