Orlando Magic Game Helps Boy Speak

ORLANDO, Fla. —

The Magic's trip to the NBA playoffs and finals touched an Orlando boy so much he started to speak.

VIDEO REPORT: Boy With Disorder Speaks Thanks To Magic

The parents of 3-year-old Ryan Rodriguez say they've spent thousands of dollars on speech therapy trying to get the little boy to talk, but nothing worked. Doctors say the little boy had an anxiety disorder called selective mutism.

It wasn't until one night when Ryan was watching a Magic game with his father that he started to open up. That's when Ryan's dad knew he had to get him to a game

"When we got there he says, 'Me play basketball here.' I said, 'Yeah,'" said Ryan's dad, Izzy Rodriguez.

After the first game, Izzy sent an email to the Magic telling them what they had done for his son. The Magic have since given them tickets to the playoffs.
