He's a community activist who admits he's had a rocky relationship with commission Lynum for years. But this recording stunned even him.
David Van Gelder was just doing what he's done dozens of times before: setting up his video recorder, for sound only, on a table in a city hall conference room.
Commissioner Daisy Lynum told Channel 9 the camcorder's placement was obtrusive. She says she wanted him to move it.
At the meeting, Lynum took matters into her own hands, got up from the table and went for the camera.
A city attorney reported to the conference room and said the taping was legal as long as it was legal. Lynum, who says she believes in open meetings, decided this one was over and ended it immediately.
Lynum also told us Wednesday, she considers Mr. Van Gelder unstable and that she doesn't trust his behavior. She said he was aggressive Tuesday, when he pointed his capped camcorder in her direction.
