"Sometimes I write songs that are to help me deal with a situation in my life, or to help me laugh or cry. But sometimes when I'm really lucky some songs are sent through me for other people and that was certainly the case with this one," said Karen.

Carol Tucker, Executive Director of Princeton House Charter School, adopted her autistic son Justin. Carol is one of the school's founders.
"We started out with six children in my house. Within 2 months we had 28 kids knocking at the door, please let me in," Carol said.
Today the school, which caters to families from Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola Counties, has a staff of 115 who care for, and teach, 240 children.
"You think there's a lot of people out there that really understand the special needs community but in fact it's not so. There are so many people that need to be more aware of what's going on," Carol said.
And that was the reason for the performance. When Karen Taylor-Good met Princeton House parent Randy Grossman and learned about the devotion it takes for a family of autistic children she was moved to write The Life That's Chosen Me."
"What's never been addressed or what I had never heard addressed was what happens to the parents of these special needs children. So I thought the least I could do was to try to speak for them through a song that might explain what it's like for them," said songwriter Karen Taylor-Good.
Carol Tucker said the song's message is clear.
"This song speaks out, not just to autistic children and their families, but to all special needs families that go through this daily life routine of raising a handicapped child," Carol said.
"I was rummaging in my purse for something to dry my eyes," said parent and teacher Helen Leonard. "It was wonderful. All of the songs were terrific and they speak to people beyond the autistic group. The Life that's Chosen Me summed up so many of the things that you feel as a parent all through the process."
Karen's song will be featured on an album produced by Randy's Grossman's Harmonizing With Humanity organization. The Princeton House Charter School will benefit from money raised by the song and album.
In May Randy and Karen will be in Scottsdale Arizona for a unique music festival catering to families of special needs children.
