A teacher is accused of comparing a woman's son to an ape on Facebook, and now, the mother is demanding disciplinary action be taken against her.

Lauren Orban, a teacher at an elementary school in Bradenton, posted the following comment on her Facebook page:

"I'm fairly convinced that one of my students may be the evolutionary link between orangutans and humans."

WFTV learned that Orban started a conversation comparing Lisa Wade's son to an orangutan.

A school registrar stopped that conversation and reported it.

Orban's Facebook page has since he taken down, but Wade believes she should at least be suspended for her actions.

"I'm not wrong, I'm right. I'm doing what any other parent would do for their child," said Wade. "It hurt me and it still hurts, because he's 8 years old."

The Manatee County school district has no written policy in regards to teachers' use of social media, but officials say they urge teachers to use common sense.

The district hopes to implement a social media policy sometime next year.
