ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was hit and killed by a car while he sat at a bus stop in east Orange County Saturday.
The victim was sitting on a bench at a bus stop on Alafaya Trail near Solon Drive, according to troopers. Around 9:30 p.m., 26-year-old Christopher Payne lost control of his Nissan as he traveled northbound on Alafaya Trail, FHP said. Payne's vehicle left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk before crashing into the bus stop bench.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not been released by troopers.
FHP said charges are pending against Payne.
