Vanessa Welch

I anchor the 5:30 on WFTV with Bob Opsahl and the 6:30 and 10 pm newscasts on WRDQ with Josh Benson. I joined the Eyewitness News team in February of 2007. I started my journalism career in West Texas where I met my husband, who is a television meteorologist.

I also covered the Kerry/Edwards Campaign and interviewed First Lady Laura Bush.

In Orlando, I've interviewed President Obama, pressed state leaders to fully fund education and uncovered toll problems. I am a board member for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I also volunteer with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and local hospitals who treat children with cancer. I host an annual 5k Run at Sea World to raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research. I am an avid runner who enjoys traveling, volunteering and reading.
