Victim Dies After Shooting At Intersection Over Phone Number

Orlando police say a teenage girl who was shot after reportedly rejecting the advances of two men has died.

Investigators said the men opened fire on a car full of teenage girls at John Young Parkway and Princeton Street two weeks ago. Mildred Beaubrun was removed from life support Tuesday, more than two weeks after she was shot at the Orlando intersection.

Investigators said Beaubrun and two of her friends stopped at a gas station after leaving Club Firestone. They were approached by a group of men asking for their phone numbers.

When the men didn't get what they wanted, they followed the girls to the intersection of John Young Parkway and Princeton (see map). One of them fired a shot. It hit Beaubrun, who was sitting in the back seat.

"We will not stop until we find out who did this and they're caught," said Margaret Francis, Beaubrun's aunt.

The men drove off in a silver Chevrolet HHR. Police released sketches of two men in the front seat. They said one or two other men sat in the back, but the teens in the car didn't get a very good look at them.

"Just to shoot in an automobile because you asked for a number of someone and they didn't talk to you, it's profound," added Francis.

As detectives try to find the shooter, the family is trying to cover the expenses of the funeral. They said she will be laid to rest in her hometown of Naples.
