Woman Finds Roosters Stuffed Inside Her Brevard County Mailbox

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. —

Animal Control was called to a Brevard County home after a woman checked her mailbox and found two roosters instead of mail.

Deputies are trying to figure out who left the two roosters in the mailbox at the house on Tennessee Court. One of the roosters had died, but the other managed to get out of the mailbox and onto the road.

"It's disgusting, awful and horrendous that someone would torture roosters like this. This is the United States of America. You don't do that here," said homeowner Leslie Welch.

The rooster that survived was hurt and is in the care of Animal Control.
