Woman Suing Over 'Misprinted' Lottery Ticket

OCALA, Fla. —

An Ocala woman is suing the State of Florida over half a million dollars she claims she won in the lottery.

Joe and Annemarie Curcio thought they won money on Mother's Day three years ago when they matched two numbers on a $20 "Gold Rush" scratch-off ticket.

The couple packed up at 4:00am one day and drove to Tallahassee to claim their money.

That is where they heard some bad news.

"They told us, 'no, it's not a winner, so sorry.' And my husband said, 'what are you going to do about it?' And they said, 'nothing, there's nothing we're going to do about it,'" said Annemarie Curcio.

Lottery officials said the ticket was a misprint.

On Wednesday, Curcio filed a lawsuit claiming unfair and deceptive trade practice, breach of contract and misleading advertising. She said she will continue to fight for the money even though her husband of 40 years died suddenly last month.
