O'Leary comments on Plancher appeal ruling

A ruling by a Florida appeals court on Friday has reduced a $10 million damage award to $200,000 in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a University of Central Florida football player who died following conditioning drills in 2008.

Before Friday's football practice, UCF head coach George O'Leary told Channel 9, "Happy to hear the appeal went UCF's direction, but it was still about a tragedy and a young man that lost his life. It's something that you're always going to look at and never forget Ereck Plancher."

Plancher collapsed and died following conditioning drills at the school's football complex in March 2008.

The Plancher family attorney issued a statement that reads in part, "The Plancher family will continue to seek justice for their son's death, and will, among other actions, seek review at the Supreme Court of Florida in an attempt to protect all Florida's intercollegiate athletes against such egregious conduct."
