Police: Man beat, threatened to kill stepmother

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — Rockledge police have arrested a man who they said beat his stepmother and threatened to kill her.

According to police, a 57-year-old woman said that Thomas Alan Youngman, 36, beat her about the head and face on Monday, and then slammed her head onto a garage floor.

Police said the woman told them that Youngman, her stepson, then put her into the trunk of his car and told her he was going to kill her.

According to police, Youngman began to drive away with the woman in the trunk, but stopped, pulled her out of the car trunk by her hair, and began beating her again in the garage and in the Beaverdale Place home.

Police said the woman was eventually able to escape and made her way to a neighbor's house and called 911.

Police said Youngman wasn't at the home when they arrived, but later returned to the home and was arrested.

The woman was treated at the hospital for her injuries. There was no word on her condition.

Youngman was taken to the Brevard County Jail and faces several charges, including aggravated battery with great bodily harm and kidnapping.
