Police: Ocoee business owner robbed of $30,000

OCOEE, Fla. — Ocoee police are investigating after the owner of Las Tres Banderas store was robbed of $30,000 of his business' money Friday morning.

The robbery happened outside Las Tres Banderas clothing store on Silver Star Road around 10:30 a.m.

According to police, the owner of the business was carrying a bag containing $30,000 when he was confronted by a black male suspect in the parking lot. The suspect tried to take the bag of money and a struggle ensued between the two, investigators said.

At some point, the suspect fired a gun into the air and was able to take the bag of money, police said. Moments later the suspect fled into a mini van that had been waiting and drove up to pick him up.

The mini van was later located abandoned half a mile away. Investigators said the vehicle had been stolen out of Seminole County.

On Saturday, police released surveillance video of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ocoee Police Department.
