Judge grants prosecution motion to keep Pulse shooter's wife in jail

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A Florida federal judge approved Thursday a motion by prosecutors to stay an order allowing the wife of the Pulse nightclub shooter to get out of jail on bond.

Prosecutors had filed the motion in response to a federal magistrate judge's decision to allow Noor Salman to be released, saying it's "debatable" whether the government has enough evidence to convict her.

The judge ordered the release for Friday, but with the most recent order in the case it is no longer clear when, or if, Salman will be released pending trial.

Federal prosecutors want her to stay behind bars until she is tried on charges she helped her husband scout out potential targets.

Salman has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Salman's husband, Omar Mateen, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State during the mass shooting, the deadliest in recent U.S. history. The attack left 49 people dead at the Pulse nightclub. Mateen was eventually killed by police.

Salman has until 5 p.m. on March 8 to file a response to the prosecution motion.
