2 girls dead after school bus collides with car identified

SANFORD, Fla. — The identities of two girls killed in a crash involving a car and school bus in Seminole County Friday evening were released Saturday.

Ashlie Ramos, 11, was killed while sitting in the front seat of the car and 7-year-old Nyasia Quinones died after being seriously injured in the back seat and taken to the hospital, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The mother, 30-year-old Andrea Ruz of Deltona, was driving and suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Ruz and Quinones were taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, troopers said.

Three students were on the bus, along with the driver, 60-year-old Theodore Lemon of Sanford.  No one on the bus was injured, according to troopers.

The crash happened near the intersection of State Road 417 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Sanford about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

According to a report, the car was traveling east in the left turn lane of Ronald Reagan Boulevard at SR 417 and the bus was traveling west approaching the SR 417.

Ruz turned left into the path of the bus, according to the report. The bus hit the car on its right side.

Troopers are investigating the accident.
