It already has been a busy morning for the UCF football team Thursday. The Knights conducted their second practice of preseason camp, they received five votes in the USA Today Sports Preseason Coaches’ Poll and wide receiver/kick returning Quincy McDuffie was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List, which is handed out to the nation’s most versatile player.

UCF was one of three Conference USA schools earning votes in the preseason top 25, joining Houston and Southern Miss. The Black and Gold ranked 41st in votes, while it had two more votes than Florida International and Missouri. The Knights host FIU Sept. 15 as well as the Tigers Sept. 29, and they also welcome Southern Miss to town Oct. 13. On July 24, UCF was picked to win the C-USA East Division in a preseason poll conducted by the Houston Chronicle.

In 2010, UCF entered the top 25 for the first time in school history, and finished the season No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and No. 21 in the Associated Press Poll.

A senior out of Orlando’s Edgewater High School, McDuffie has been named to two watch lists this year, as he also grabbed a spot on the College Football Performance Awards All-Purpose Trophy list. He led the Knights with 43 receptions for 482 yards in his first year as a full-time starter in 2011. For his career, he has 64 receptions, 752 yards and four touchdowns, while he ranks second in school history with three kickoff returns for touchdowns, third with 1,919 return yards and fourth with a 26.29 average per return.
