FRESNO, Calif. — A California boy is now a record holder after making a round-trip swim to Alcatraz Island.
James Savage is the youngest person to swim from San Fracisco's Aquatic Park to the infamous island and then back to the park, KFSN reported.
He made the two-hour swim Tuesday, KSEE reported.
The fourth-grader told KFSN that it wasn't an easy swim.
"I thought it was going to be easy at first, but then I got out there and the tide was pushing me all around," James said. "I was about to quit, but then I kept going."

James had to fight strong waves and current in the open water.
James' father said that was going to reward his son for his quest - first pledging $100 at completion, but then when James had slowed, increasing his offer to $200, KSEE reported.
He now has a new goal for an endurance swim - the length of the Golden Gate Bridge or about 8,981 feet.
