Delivery man corners pizzeria robbery suspect

SEATTLE, Wash. — After a man shoved a bag in the face of a cashier at a Seattle pizza restaurant on Wednesday, a quick-thinking delivery man couldn't stand idle.

Nassry Ayala was working behind the counter at Romio's Pizza in Eastlake when a 32-year-old Seattle man walked into the restaurant. He ordered a pepperoni pizza and a soda.

"I looked back and he's just pointing with a gun at me," Ayala said. "And the first (thing) he told me is like, 'Don't do anything stupid.' I had two customers on (the) end, a customer in the middle, and a customer outside, and no one noticed."

The man handed him a bag before he fled in an RV.

Seconds later, Victor Santiago returned to Romio's after making a delivery. He jumped in his own vehicle and went after the suspect, cornering the man at a gas station in the University District.

Seattle police officers swooped in and arrested the suspected robber. Police have called Santiago a hero.

"He is a hero," Ayala agreed. "If it wouldn't have been for him, he (the suspect) would have gotten away."

According to court documents, the man Santiago helped police nab is 32-year-old Justin Gans, of Seattle.

Gans was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
