Riley May Alexander, 22, of Boise, was charged Wednesday with drug possession and injury to a child -- both felonies -- and a misdemeanor paraphernalia charge, KTVB reported.

According to court documents, witnesses saw Alexander using a straw and tinfoil to smoke a substance while she was sitting in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Nampa.

Police responding to the parking lot confronted Alexander, who admitted she had heroin in the vehicle, according to court documents.

"I observed from the passenger side of the vehicle a small child in the right rear passenger seat," -- a girl later identified as the suspect's daughter, one officer wrote.

Officials with the Nampa Police Department said the child was placed into the health and welfare protective services system, KBOI reported.

Alexander remains in the Canyon County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, the television station reported. She is due to appear in court Nov. 27.
