Police: Woman left infant in hot car while arguing with man

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A Riviera Beach woman is accused of leaving her 5-month-old child in a hot car while she argued with a man. The child had to be taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment, city police say.

Emmanuela Ella Jeudy, 33, was arrested Wednesday morning and faces a child-neglect charge. She parked her car at a Singer Island self-storage site and left it running, the report said.

She got out and argued with a man, although the report did not explain her relationship to the man. A witness saw the infant in the car and contacted police.

It isn’t clear how long the infant was left unattended in the car, but the 5-month-old was warm to the touch and had a temperature of 99 degrees, police said. The infant was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.

The mother was issued two traffic citations and arrested. The infant was taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Juedy was released from the Palm Beach County Jail later that day on $3,000 bail.
