Rieder grew up in Westminster, California, and began skateboarding when he was 9 years old. He turned pro at 18 for Alien Workshop, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In 2013, Rieder appeared in Vogue magazine with Alexander Wang and A$AP Rocky as part of the magazine's "Untamed Youth" feature. In the spring of 2014, he posed for a DKNY advertisement with Cara Delevigne.
