Trump's wife, son won't be moving into White House

Barron and Melania Trump

While President-elect Donald Trump will reside in the White House after his inauguration on Jan. 20, future first lady Melania Trump and 10-year-old son Barron will not be moving there immediately, the New York Post reported Sunday.

Quoting unnamed sources, the Post said that the president-elect's wife and their young son will remain at the Trump Tower penthouse in New York so that Barron can continue attending his Upper West Side private school.

The Post also quoted another unnamed source that said Melania Trump will travel to the White House “as needed,” and that there is a possibility the incoming president will be reunited with his family at the end of the school year.
Spokesman Jason Miller told The Associated Press that there is "obviously a sensitivity" about pulling Trump's son out of school in the middle of the academic year.
Security will be increased around Trump Tower, moves that will involve the Secret Service and the New York Police Department, the Post reported.
“That building is going to become the White House of New York,” said Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina. “The Secret Service is going to have to keep that whole area cordoned off so that some wacko can’t get close and detonate a car bomb.”

Melania Trump would become the second wife of a president not to live in the White House during her husband's term. Anna Harrison, the wife of William Henry Harrison, never lived in the White House because the nation's ninth president died a month after his inauguration. Anna Tuthill Symmes Harrison was still at the family home in Ohio when her husband died in Washington, D.C., on April 4, 1841.
