Tropical Storm Oscar forms out in Atlantic

MIAMI —

Tropical Storm Oscar has formed well out into the Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Oscar is expected to be a short-lived storm.

On Thursday, forecasters said the storm has winds of 45 mph.

The storm is centered 1,205 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands and moving to the north-northeast at 9 mph.

Oscar should dissipate in the next day or two when it gets absorbed by a cold front forecasters said.

The storm does not post any threat to land.
