Dallas WR Hurd Ruled Out For Opener

Friday, August 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys announced Friday that wide receiver Sam Hurd will be held out of the team's season opener due to a high ankle sprain.

Hurd suffered the injury during Dallas' preseason 16-10 win over Minnesota on Thursday.

It's the latest in a series of setbacks for the Cowboys receiving corps. Isaiah Stanback is nursing a shoulder problem while Miles Austin is not expected to play in Week 1 with a knee injury.

That leaves Terrell Owens and Patrick Crayton as the lone healthy veteran wideouts heading into the season opener, September 7 at Cleveland.
