Carolina Lands QB McCown From Miami

Friday, August 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins traded quarterback Josh McCown to the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed 2009 draft choice on Friday.

Carolina will be McCown's fourth stop in as many seasons, as he played in nine games with the Oakland Raiders last year, completing 57.9 percent of his passes for 1,151 yards with 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

After being selected in the third round by the Cardinals in 2002, the 29-year- old spent four years in Arizona before taking a backup position in Detroit.

In 44 career games, the Sam Houston State-product has thrown for 6,582 yards with 35 touchdowns and 40 interceptions.

Carolina needed insurance for starter Jake Delhomme, as backup QB Matt Moore injured his leg in Thursday's preseason finale against Pittsburgh.
