Rams WR Bennett Leaves Game Vs. Eagles

Sunday, September 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - Rams starting wideout Drew Bennett left early in St. Louis' season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday with an apparent knee injury.

Bennett, who battled with a groin injury in the days leading up to the game, stayed down after a four-yard gain on a reception with about nine minutes left in the first quarter. The 30-year-old appeared to hurt his knee on the play, and was helped off the field while limping.

He did not return in St. Louis' 38-3 loss to the Eagles.

Entering his second season with the Rams, Bennett is coming off a disappointing 2007 campaign, limited by injury, in which he had only 33 catches for 375 yards and three scores.
