NFL Game Summary - NY Jets At Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN -- Chad Pennington completed his first 10 passes and threw for a touchdown to lead the New York Jets to a 31-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in preseason action at the RCA Dome. Pennington finished 10-of-11 passing for 169 yards for the Jets, who evened their preseason record at 1-1. Peyton Manning completed 6-of-10 passes for 85 yards with a touchdown and an interception, as the Colts fell to 1-1 in exhibition action. After a scoreless first quarter, New York took an 8-0 lead on Pennington's one-yard touchdown pass to Chris Baker and subsequent two-point conversion toss to Justin McCareins with 13:17 left in the second. The score capped a five-play, 75-yard drive highlighted by a 65-yard pass from Pennington to Jonathan Carter. The Colts answered quickly, though, as Manning connected with Bryan Fletcher on a three-yard scoring toss that made it an 8-7 game with 10:52 left in the second. Doug Brien hit field goals of 28 and 47 yards later in the quarter to give the Jets a 14-7 halftime lead. A 20-yard field goal by Brien midway through the third put New York up 17-7. Ian Smart gave the Jets their final 31-7 advantage, scoring on a one-yard TD run and a 59-yard punt return in the fourth quarter. New York's Ricky Ray completed 7-of-8 passes for 53 yards, making Jets quarterbacks a combined 17-of-19 passing for 222 yards. Carter finished with two receptions for 79 yards in the win. Indianapolis wide receiver Troy Walters broke his right arm when he was hammered by New York's Jon McGraw while trying to make a catch early in the first quarter.
