Report: Bears' Benson Arrested Again

Saturday, June 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - For the second time in a little more than a month, Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson has been arrested, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Benson failed a field sobriety test in downtown Austin early Saturday morning and was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on bond. The Bears plan to open their own investigation into the incident, according to the paper.

Last month Benson was charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest near Austin, Texas.

In the incident in May, the fourth-overall selection in the 2005 NFL Draft failed a sobriety "float test" and argued with authorities about taking a follow-up test and refusing to put on a life jacket, according to a sergeant with the Travis County Sheriff's office. The running back was then pepper sprayed after he did not cooperate.

Benson, who suffered a broken leg last season, rushed for 674 yards with four touchdowns in 11 starts.
