NFL Grants Pacman Limited Reinstatement

Monday, June 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell notified previously suspended defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones on Monday that he will be allowed to join his Dallas Cowboys teammates effective immediately.

Jones will be allowed limited reinstatement, meaning he is permitted to participate in organized team activities including training camp and preseason games.

"This limited reinstatement is a step in the process," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "Adam is a aware of the things that need to be done in order to take the next step."

In a letter to Jones, Goodell stated that a final decision on his reinstatement for the upcoming season should come before September 1. Until that time, Goodell wrote, Jones is expected to continue to abide by the NFL's personal conduct program and avoid further involvement with law enforcement.

Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season by Goodell for numerous run-ins with the law in just two NFL seasons, including an alleged involvement in a shooting at a Las Vegas strip club during the NBA's All-Star weekend in February. That incident left an employee of the club paralyzed from the waist down.

The 24-year-old fourth-year pro was dealt from the Tennessee Titans to the Cowboys in late April. Since entering the NFL, Jones has been questioned by police 10 times and has been arrested five times.

In his first two seasons, Jones appeared in 30 games and registered 115 tackles, one sack and four interceptions. The West Virginia product also has four career punt returns for TDs and has amassed 1,648 yards on kickoff returns.
