Torn Groin To Keep Cowboys CB Newman Out At Least Three Weeks

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

(Sports Network) - An MRI of Terence Newman's injured groin revealed a slight tear that will sideline the cornerback for at least three weeks, the team's Web site reported Tuesday.

Newman will likely miss the first three preseason games because of the injury, which occurred in Monday's morning practice.

After missing all or parts of the first four games last season with a partially torn plantar fascia, Newman recorded 50 tackles and four interceptions in being named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his five- year career.

In 77 career games -- all with Dallas -- Newman has recorded 319 tackles, 2.0 sacks and 16 interceptions.
