Allen Park, MI -- (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions signed free agent linebacker Gilbert Gardner to a one-year deal Tuesday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Last season, Gardner played in 13 games for the Tennessee Titans and finished second on the team with a career-high 15 special teams tackles.

Through four NFL seasons, Gardner has played in 50 regular-season games (15 starts) and has 98 tackles, including 48 solo. He has also recorded one sack and one interception.

Selected by the Colts in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft, Gardner's best season came in 2006 while playing in 15 games for Indianapolis. He notched a career-best 66 tackles (33 solo) while helping the team to a Super Bowl XLI championship.
