NFL Game Summary - Kansas City At Miami

Miami, FL -- (Sports Network) - Chad Pennington threw for 94 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Fasano, and Ted Ginn Jr. returned a punt 59 yards for another score as the Miami Dolphins defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 24-0, in preseason action. Pennington, making his first home start as the Miami signal-caller after being acquired on August 8th after he had been released from the New York Jets, was effective, completing 11-of-15 and added 13 yards rushing on one carry. Ginn hauled in three balls for 29 yards for Miami (2-1). Jalen Parmele chipped in with 88 yards rushing on seven carries with a two-yard TD, while Ricky Williams added 47 yards on 12 carries in the win. Brodie Croyle finished 12-of-21 passing for 110 yards with an interception for Kansas City (1-2). Larry Johnson had 13 carries for 36 yards in defeat. Dan Carpenter opened the scoring, booting a 19-yard field goal with 4:57 left in the first quarter to give the Dolphins the early lead. Miami then got a 59-yard TD on a punt return from Ginn early in the second stanza and tacked on seven more on Fasano's 17-yard touchdown catch from Pennington with 9:36 left in the half. There was no further scoring and the home team took a 17-0 lead into the intermission. Following a scoreless third quarter, Miami upped its lead with 7:40 left in the contest. Pinned back on their own 12-yard line, Parmele ripped off an 80- yard run on the first play of the drive, then three plays later went over right tackle and into the end zone for a two-yard score, giving the Dolphins a 24-0 advantage.
