Eagles' Dawkins, Pats' Welker Leave Game

Saturday, August 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins and New England Patriots wideout Wes Welker both left Friday's preseason contest, a 27-17 Eagles victory at Gillette Stadium.

Dawkins suffered an ankle injury. He did not return for the remainder of the game. He underwent an X-ray -- revealing no break -- and is scheduled for an MRI Saturday. Eagles head coach Andy Reid said he will provide an update on Sunday when the team returns to practice at the NovaCare Complex.

Welker left the game in the second quarter with a rib injury and did not return.

In addition, Eagles' center Jamaal Jackson suffered a concussion and did not return.
