Saints Sign CB Butler

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints signed free agent cornerback Jerametrius Butler on Tuesday.

Butler, 29, spent last season with the Buffalo Bills after six years with the St. Louis Rams. The Kansas State product appeared in seven games for the Bills, compiling 15 tackles. Butler has nine career interceptions, and they all came in 2003 and 2004, when he tallied four and five interceptions, respectively, for the Rams.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound corner led the Rams in interceptions both of those seasons, but missed 2005 after a knee injury in training camp.

The Saints also announced Tuesday the signing of free agent center Marquay Love. An undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston, where he played on the defensive line, Love was in camp with the Dolphins last season, but didn't make the club.

New Orleans also waived linebacker Chris Graham, an undrafted free agent from Michigan, on Tuesday.

- Michael Turner was deemed expendable by the San Diego Chargers this past offseason, but there's no denying that the talented running back has been vital to the Atlanta Falcons' amazing turnaround in 2008.
