Bucs Sign S Wilson

POSTED: 5:48 pm EDT March 17, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing Monday of veteran safety Eugene Wilson. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wilson spent his first five years in the league with the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls, after being selected 36th overall in the 2003 draft. His numbers with the Pats included 252 tackles, 10 interceptions, 28 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and 13 kick- coverage stops.

Wilson led New England with nine interceptions from 2003-05, then was slowed by injuries in 2006. He wrapped up last year's campaign with 33 tackles and one interception as the Patriots ended the regular season 16-0.

An Illinois product, Wilson is one of 11 players added by the Bucs in the first 15 days of free agency.
